Is the Trans-Siberian Orchestra's Christmas Eve and Other Stories a holiday rock opera? Or perhaps just a holiday prog-rock disc? Or maybe it's New Age? Whatever the case may be, this isn't your typical Christmas album. Filled with electric guitar solos, plenty of synthesized keyboards, a children's choir, and lively drumming, Christmas Eve can only be compared to one other record, the Trans-Siberian Orchestra's other holiday disc, The Christmas Attic. On this CD, angelic vocal solos (on numbers such as "The Prince of Peace") are interspersed with driving instrumentals. Sentimental, occasionally bombastic, but as high-concept as holiday albums can be. --Jason Verlinde

I love listening to this music year-round. The TSO is for all ages and all music preferences. The words are inspirational.

This a very good Hard Rock Christmas album with some pretty brutal covers of some Christmas classics, like the Nutcracker (A Mad Russian Christmas), Carol Of The Bells (Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24), O Come All Ye Faithful/O Holy Night as well as some more relaxed interpretations. Though that isn't to say that this album is just Hard Rock re imaginings of holiday classics cause it's not, there are quite a few pieces of original work and while some are in my opinion significantly weaker than others (A Star To Follow comes to mind) the album as a whole is very enjoy able and a nice change of pace when compared to most other Christmas albums out there. This album is a must for any Hard Rock lover or Metal head that wants a Hard Rocking Devil Horn Christmas.

After seening TSO in concert over Christmas we found every one of there CD's except this one in our local stores. This one has the song Christmas Eve Sarajevo which was the one we wanted. I found it here at Amazon and purchased it as a gift. Outstanding music by an Outstanding group of people. But I will warn you it is classical, symphonic, hard rock so probably not for everyone. If you aren't familiar with TSO I would try to here some of their stuff before I make the purchase.

My daughter had attended a concert and was in Love and wanted the CD,but she didnt have the money with her to purchase it at the concert.I wrapped it up and it made a great gift she Loved it and plays it all the time.

This is not the CD that I wanted. I cannot rate it fairly, because of the fact that I made the mistake of ordering the incorrect CD. Some may enjoy it, but it is not my type of Christmas music.
