These are built for transporting goods over long distances. The wagon had a long bed about 16 feet long, have a recognizable sloping bottom and lowest in the middle. It was loped this way to keep goods from shifting and sliding as it went up and down hills. The capacity of the wagons is about 3,500 pounds and 6 or 8 rods were placed over top for a white cloth to be stretched over to protect the goods from the weather. |
